PHD are pleased to have reached the finalist stage for the Apprenticeship Initiative of the Year category at the CN Talent Awards 2019. We were up against fierce competition, including, Knights Brown, MACE, and Network Rail but ultimately City Building came out on top. PHD entered the Apprenticeship Initiative of the Year category after a successful year actively promoting and adapting the scheme to be better and more worthwhile for the apprentices. PHD created a new Apprenticeship Coordinator role, so each apprentice had a dedicated person to communicate with.

On Wednesday 16th October, PHD visited Sacred Heart Primary School in Ruislip to encourage their Year 5 children to consider the construction industry as a career choice. Our team of Zoe O’Rourke, Nicole Pearson, and Sofia Sanchez held an interactive presentation where the kids had to guess the five points of PPE, figure out how heavy a 3ft scaffolding tube weighed, and learn about the various roles available within the industry. By linking the specialised skills attributed to the careers in the construction industry to the work the children are currently learning at school, it will hopefully make them think about joining the sector when they are older.
