PHD Attended Douay Martyrs School Career Fair
On 16th October, PHD Access was invited to the Douay Martyrs School Careers Fair. Our Apprenticeship Coordinator, Natalie Taylor along with one of our brightest apprentices Teddy Chapman and our Marketing Assistant, Debargha Biswas took the opportunity to explain how PHD’s Apprenticeship Scheme can help the children to grow in their careers.
The event was a huge success, with a fantastic turnout, and students from years 11, 12 and 13 showed great enthusiasm for exciting career paths in the construction industry.

Star of the Event
One of the highlights of the day was our virtual reality experience, which quickly became the crowd favourite among students and teachers alike. Students were drawn to the immersive game, where they could experience the thrill of working at heights on a scaffold structure.
Additionally, our VR challenge encouraged participants to identify and correct five health and safety risks within a timed setting, giving them a hands-on understanding of the importance of safety in construction. The innovative approach was meant to give an understanding of what to expect when they are onsite.
Interviews
Along with all the fun, mock-up interviews were held to help students practice and refine their interview techniques, offering a glimpse into what they might expect when applying for future roles. Our primary goal for the event was to promote our apprenticeship scheme, and we were thrilled with the level of interest shown by the students throughout the day.
Our Apprenticeship Coordinator, Natalie Taylor was very pleased to see the enthusiasm among the students and quoted:
‘We aim to inspire the next generation by offering hands-on experiences like virtual reality and mock interviews. It’s all about showcasing the diverse opportunities within PHD Access and the construction industry.
Our Apprenticeship Scheme
If you are interested in the construction industry, we offer a two-year paid apprenticeship scheme for anyone over 16 years.
