Choosing To Challenge the Gender Stereotype

A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. – www.internationalwomensday.com

PHD Access choose to challenge the gender stereotype within the construction industry. We actively encourage an inclusive working culture throughout the business, and we believe that no job is specifically for a man or a woman but are instead open to all those who wish to pursue a career of their choosing.

For International Women’s Day 2021, PHD in collaboration with Project7 and ChronicMedia, created a video showcasing the most common of gender imbalances within the construction industry: Women working on site. Throughout the video, our scaffolders identity is hidden, suggesting that you are watching a man go through his day-to-day activities. It is only at the end of the video when our protagonist is revealed that you realise you have been following a woman the whole time.

By raising awareness, we hope to forge a gender equal world, where it is not unusual for a woman to be a scaffolder, to be on site, or to work within the construction industry.

Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions. All day, every day. Together, we can choose to challenge and call out gender biases and inequality.

We hope you enjoy the video.
