HEALTH & WELLBEING

HEALTH & WELLBEING

At PHD we believe that the health and wellbeing of our employees is just as important as their safety. Did you know that 57% of all working days are lost to ill health? We monitor the health of our employees on site with Fit For Work Safety Critical Medicals and frequent wellbeing assessments. We also source a private therapist when required and make sure employees are given support to make the correct lifestyle change or receive the correct treatment.

TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are passionate about raising awareness and understanding around the importance of good mental health across PHD and the industry-as-a-whole.

PHD are committed to removing the stigma and ending discrimination around mental health and have raise money for Mind Charity and The Mental Health Foundation.

We have an in-house Mental Health Support Worker and have implemented new mental health initiatives to provide an informal network for anyone needing to talk or find support in times of difficulty or stress. Our Mental Health Initiative is to create and sustain a platform to address Mental Health as a priority within the workplace. This platform will research, provide services, and focus on mental health.

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

PHD are continuously exploring various ways to improve our knowledge and awareness of mental health. Throughout August and September, we visited each of our sites to film our operatives for a special video; ‘Together, We Can Make A Huge Difference’. The aim of this video is to raise people’s consciousness to how their colleagues may be feeling and to encourage individuals to seek help if they feel they are struggling mentally. This video made it’s debut at our annual seminar in October 2019, and is shown at each of our inductions.

TEA & TALK DAY

We hold regular events across the business to raise awareness and break down the stigma that surrounds mental health. The Team opened-up on some of our own experiences with mental health. It was also an opportunity to discuss and share ways in which we can improve our lifestyles for better mental health.

TRAINING

Mental Health Awareness Training has been put in place for all Site Managers and Senior members of staff within the head office to gain further understanding on the topic and know how to spot the signs of anyone suffering.

All this is supported by our Board of Directors to ensure PHD remains the Healthiest and Safest scaffold company to work for.

MENTAL HEALTH CHARTER

We have recently signed a pledge to Building Mental Health. This shows our commitment to the Lighthouse Club charity that provide financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families. Certificate

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER

We have a dedicated in-house Mental Health Support Worker, Nicole Pearson, who has completed training with MHFA England to provide initial, relevant help to anyone in our company experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress.
